Autonomous Outdoor Garbage Cleaning System

Students in VISL develop the Garbage Cleaning System which addresses garbage left by travellers. The system is based on little robots that can autonomously navigate in outdoor scenes, search for and locate collectable garbage, and transport it to a central garbage collection container. The cleaning robots are equipped with onboard computers which are capable of processing visual data and autonomous navigation. The robots shall be able to communicate with a central base station, collaborate with each other and also get assistance by little drones that hover over the cleaned area. The project involves algorithm development and implementation, hardware development, system integration and testing by using state-of-the-art technology. The computing power is planned to be based on NVIDIA Jetson products.
