Abstract

Color vision is the process by which an organism extracts information regarding the wavelength composition of a visual stimulus. Color blindness is an abnormal condition characterized by the inability to clearly distinguish different colors of the spectrum. Color vision deficiency impacts the lives of millions of people around the world. It is essential to understand their condition and provide solutions to improve their quality of life and accessibility to different forms of technology. In this project, we presented a model of human color vision that allowed to digitally simulate the perception of individuals with CVD. We presented a technique for finding problematic areas of confusion in images using a similarity map as well as a simple formulation for enhancing an image using this map. We were able to enhance most of the images that were tested based on the results of simulations. We have also conducted a survey on real subjects to get a subjective opinion of persons with color blindness deficiency.
